This, was the Christmas toy everyone talks about - literally over 1000 pieces to "assemble".    Glad "Santa" didn't try to put this together for Christmas morning! newyear2000.jpg

JJ was "VIP" in nursery school a week near the end of 1999 - we wanted to capture her poster for posterity.
JJ became very "entranced" with the Wizard of OZ since before Halloween, so she decided that would be the 'theme' for her 'little' birthday party.  Thankfully we were able to rent out the neighborhood community center, but what an effort!  Over a dozen 4 & 5 year olds, truckin' stuff back and forth, not to mention setting, cleaning and stocking up!  This will NOT be an indication of the annual event's size!!

Not the "right" Wizard of OZ characters, but JJ agreed that it would do! jjbdaypresents.jpg

Everyone in rapt attention to "Dorothy"
Some of the games were "Stick the Heart on the Tinman" (using Valentines Heart stickers and a Tinman poster), "Good Witch, Good Witch, BAD WITCH" (duck duck goose), "Yellow Brick Road Chairs - with falling asleep in the Poppies" (Musical chairs - when out you had to lay down in the middle), and of course "Follow Dorothy" (follow the leader).

What's the use of coming to Syracuse in the winter if you can't bundle up and go out for some sledding?

Wally and Nathan got some "boy-cousin" bonding time.
Goodwill.gif (5783 bytes)WHAT A TREATGoodwill2.gif (5946 bytes) - Lincoln Financial Group (LFG) was one of 8 major sponsors for the Winter Goodwill Games in Lake Placid, NY; so LFG got to send a couple people up to be 'pampered' by Turner Broadcasting.  Somehow it worked out that the "NY Kerns" (but just Gary & Kelli) got to take advantage of this situation!!   So cool.  It was right after the Disney vacation, but we managed to work in a couple days regardless.  Tough life.

Some pictures we took - for the figure skating they really didn't want (flash) photos taken, but we did anyway - note the Lincoln ad in background.  The other is the "nightime aerials" - cool.

One of our favorite events (since we are previous participants - see our October 1998 pix).  AGAIN, note the blatant LFG presence...
We got a lot of "stuff" too...  Polartec & Gortex jackets, liners, gloves, along with hats, backpacks, long underwear, thermal shirts, thermos's, etc. etc. etc.
